Christmas Closure

15th Dec 2020

15th December 2020

Dear Parent

As the Christmas holidays approach, I am very aware that many of you will be looking forward to spending some much needed and valued time with family members, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable. With this in mind I am also aware of growing concerns among parents, in our school and wider school communities, regarding whether or not their children should attend school next week.

Families are considering the option of protecting their family bubble in time for Christmas by limiting who they interact with. I am conscious that a positive case of Covid 19 in the school community from this point could mean that pupils and families are required to self-isolate over Christmas day.

After consulting with the Board of Governors, it is agreed that the school will not be open for children for the half day next Monday 21st December. The staff will provide learning activities on Seesaw for the children on this day and we will try to do an online Christmas quiz for year 4-7 at 10am that morning.

We are also concerned that schools may be asked to remain closed from 4th January for one week. Incase this happens we shall be sending home learning packs with your children this Friday. Please do NOT do these until the week starting 4th January. If schools are not asked to close then we wish the packs to be returned to be used in school from 4th January.

We would like to thank you for your tremendous help in following the covid procedures and we would like to wish you a safe and happy Christmas and look forward to hopefully seeing you again from 4th January.

Your sincerely

Oonagh McNally
